A Word From the DEI Department:

Alpha phi Iota Omicron chapter is filled with sisters from different backgrounds and ways. DEI is a way for us to come together and celebrate our differences in a space and inclusive space. As a department we are trying our best to make sure the voices of our sisters is being heard and to use our platform for activism about things our sisters are passionate about. The current DEI department is something new to alpha phi but im so proud of all the work we have accomplished so far. Through our efforts in DEI we have done many amazing things as a chapter like donataing to many local charities and businesses in Worcester and Boston area, attended activism events like protest, and hold educational meetings to help educate ourselves and others about the world around us. We are constantly learning from one and are constantly growing. To me DEI is very important as I am a Black women attending a PWI. Having a platform to raise awareness to issues presented in our current society and being able to make a difference in our community is something that I and so grateful for. Being the VP of DEI has showed me how important it is uplift the voices of the unread and advocate for what I believe in. I am thankful to be in the position I’m in and proud of the progress Alpha Phi has made in our efforts to make a more inclusive environment here at WPI.
